{Micah Owen - 8 Months}

Micah Owen, you are 8 months old!

Micah you are determined to keep up with your brothers! The day after you turned 7 months you started pulling yourself up to sitting. You do this in the cutest way, you get onto all fours as if you're in downward dog and then twist your body to the side to get into a sitting position. A few days later you were working hard to move your body forward. At first you were on all fours and rocking you body forward to get moving, but slowly started to move your legs and solidified your crawl. By the end of the month you were crawling all over the place and picking up speed. Also, when we walked in to get you out of your crib, you were standing up! All this exploration has left you covered in bruises as you fall, get stuck, or run into something sturdy.

While you check everything out, you are especially fascinated with Jade's food and water bowls. You think the water bowl is your personal water play adventure and when Jade is eating you have crawled under her to grab a handful of dog food, more than one time.

Micah you had a very rough week of sleep this month. You were waking up 5-6 times a night and struggling during your daytime nap. You were not as easily soothed with your pacifier. At first we thought you were teething, but did not see any solid signs of teeth. Mama started to worry that you might have an ear infection and took you in to get checked, but your ears looked fine. After about a week you settled back into your regular sleep patterns and you still have your two cute teeth. We don't know what was happening, but we are glad that you seem to be doing better.

Speaking of sleep you've been working to drop your 3rd nap. Your first nap is usually 2 hours after you wake up in the morning and your second nap is about 2.5 hours after you wake from your first. You're definitely taking longer naps during the day which is great. You like to go to sleep about three hours after your last wake up, but sometimes you're willing to make it to four hours up.

You continue to explore all types of foods in a pouch but we've also been adding different food textures for you to try out like chickpea soup. You've been uncertain about different textures, your favorite continues to be plain yogurt and green beans (and dog food).

Micah this month the smoky skies in Seattle finally cleared and the air quality was better which means we were out and about more. You enjoyed taking family walks and your first visit to the pumpkin patch. You also loved your first bath outside of the baby bath tub. Once I had you in the tub your brothers wanted to join in. You had so much fun splashing in the bath with Elijah and Levi.

During your 9th month we think you are looking forward to celebrating your first Halloween.

Here are a few photos from your 8th month.

Micah Owen, you are 7 months old!

You are the proud owner of two bottom teeth! They have been working through all month and are pretty cute!

Micah you've been growing and trying new things with your body. These days you like to get up all 4's and rock your body. You are also starting to push yourself and slide backwards. This is easier for you on the hardwood floors than on the carpet. You are definitely getting stronger as you will do a full body plank from time to time or put your body into a downward dog position. You have also been practicing sitting up with a pile of pillows surrounding you.

You continue to explore new foods and have tried yogurt, pears, sweet potato, green beans, carrots, bananas, and applesauce. Yogurt and Green Beans are your favorites.

Micah you are still very much our pacifier kid. You love having it in your mouth when you go to sleep and sometimes we put another one in your hand to hold just so that you don't play with the one in your mouth. You still enjoy bouncing in your bouncer, but you definitely do not like to be contained for very long in it unless your brothers are playing with you.

This was a big month for you Micah. Because of the pandemic you have not been exposed to many people outside of our family. We had an annual trip to Lake Chelan planned with friends. As we got closer to the time of the trip there was a lot of back and forth conversations as to whether we would still go on the trip and how people were quarantining. We decided that it felt like a safe trip to take with friends and it was a truly great time for everyone after months of being isolated. You on the other, did not quite know what to think of having other people around you. The first day you were incredibly fussy and clingy. You kept needing to know where mama and papa were. With time though you grew more comfortable and even let others hold you. It was definitely a lot more excitement than you were used to! You even went on your first boat ride, and while you were skeptical at first because of the life jacket, you eventually started to enjoy it and even fell asleep.

You also went on a second family camping trip! You really enjoyed being outside. Just like our first trip you had a rough first night falling asleep in the tent, but then did better after that. Your favorite is when papa would wear you around for walks.

During your 8th month we think you are looking forward to going to your first pumpkin patch.

Micah, you are 6 months old!

You are growing so quickly. At your 6 month check up you weighed 21lbs, 4oz and are in the 96th percentile for weight. You are 28.5 inches long which puts you in the 98th percentile for height. You are solidly in 12 month clothes and look so cute wearing some of the same clothes that your older brothers wore.

Micah it is so fun to watch you grow and explore your body. Sometimes you lay and watch your hand as you open and close it. We can only imagine the thoughts going on in your growing brain as you do this and the connections you are making. You've also begun grabbing your feet while you're laying on your back. You seem to enjoy rocking back and forth while holding your feet. You are spending more time on your tummy lately, however you still do not like to roll on to it while you are asleep. If you do roll, you cry out for us to come and save you. You enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror we have in your play area. You push the front of your body all the way up and wiggle back and forth and watch yourself. You are still loving time in your bouncer. boy do you love to jump up and down! You often find yourself having your own little party in the bouncer shrieking and bouncing away. We have also started putting you in the highchair at lunch and dinner time with the family. We give you toys to play with and you think it is so much fun to drop a toy and have your brothers pick it up for you.

You continue to be a great sleeper, waking up once or twice briefly when you roll onto your tummy. You are our only kiddo who has loved having a pacifier. It seems to bring you a lot of comfort. You typically need a pacifier to fall asleep or if you wake up in the middle of the night we go in and pop a pacifier back in your mouth and you are happy and head right back to sleep. Our pacifier collection is rapidly growing!

Micah your big adventure this month was taking a road trip to the Oregon Coast. We stayed in a rental house on the beach to celebrate mama and papa's 10 year wedding anniversary. You did a great job with the long car ride. You also didn't mind being in a new location. You are always intrigued by sleeping in the pack n play. You tend to struggle going to sleep for your first nap in the pack n play. It usually takes you a little bit longer to fall asleep because you love scratching the netting of the crib to hear the fun sound it makes.

Shortly before you turned 6 months old you tried your first food - avocado! Your initial reaction was hilarious. You were very confused by this green food. You didn't mind touching it or playing with it, but you didn't love the texture of it in your mouth.

During your 7th month of life we think you are looking forward to taking a trip to Eastern Washington with friends and going on another family camping trip.
